I read the first book in high school and liked it, but probably wasn't appreciating a lot of the work it was doing. From what I remember it was definitely wrestling with a lot of the problems with HP and similar stories—but I don't remember enough to have an intelligent thought on how. I've seen the first season of the show too, which I know you watch, and really enjoyed it—I've always thought I'd return to both at some point, I'll have to bump that up my priority list! I'm assuming you recommend both?
I think it’s really specific to a certain kind of HP fan and it isn’t for everyone! I recommend it because I like it, but I don’t think it’s like, intensely great for everyone. When it hits, it hits. If you don’t love it, I’m going to fault our age difference - not your taste!
